There is nothing more frustrating than buying a new home entertainment system and finding that you have the wrong cables when it comes to setting it all up. You want to start enjoying your new system right away, but instead have to wait until the right HDMI cables can be tracked down.
This is why it is important to do nearly as much research on which HDMI cables to buy as you would when shopping for your new TV. For newer devices such as HDTVs, games consoles and the latest 3D-enabled devices, it is best to go for HDMI 1.4 cables.
However, there are different types of HDMI 1.4 cables, all with different features and uses. This gives you another decision to make, but this can be a simple one if you bear the following information in mind:
• If you have a lower-resolution TV display (i.e. 1080i or 720p), you will generally only need a standard HDMI 1.4 cable.
• If you have a high resolution display such as 1080p, you may want to consider getting a High Speed HDMI 1.4 cable to ensure that all video content is delivered and displayed to the highest standard.
• If you have any devices which may need to use the HDMI Ethernet Channel, you will need an HDMI 1.4 cable with Ethernet (this is most HDMI 1.4 cables).
